About SCA

Hello, and welcome! Thank you for considering Schooled Classically Academy.
My name is Alayna Woods, and I am a veteran homeschool mom with 17 years of experience guiding students through a rich, thoughtful, and academically rigorous Classical Christian education. My homeschooling journey began with my oldest son, who graduated from our homeschool in 2019 as a National Merit Scholar and went on to earn his university degree with honors in 2023. Today, I continue homeschooling my two teenagers while also teaching live, interactive online classes for homeschool families across the United States from my home in Birmingham, Alabama.
I currently have the privilege of serving more than 30 families and more than 45 students in multiple classes from states all across the US, and I am excited to be opening enrollment for group classes for the 2026–2027 academic year!
Our Educational Foundation
My professional background in home education is grounded in Classical, Christian, and Montessori philosophies, with an emphasis on literature-rich, developmentally appropriate curricula delivered through intentional, gently guided lessons.
I spent six years as a Classically Trained Professional Tutor with Classical Conversations, teaching students ages 6–12 in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, History, Latin, and Geography. Following that season, I co-founded, co-directed, and taught classes at Discovery School, a local Classical and Charlotte Mason–inspired hybrid micro-school, where I served for two years prior to the pandemic.
I have completed advanced training with the Singapore Primary Mathematics Method Teaching Intensives and have attended workshops focused on The Science of Reading, The Science of Writing, and The Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW). In addition, I bring experience working with a wide range of learners, including students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and high-functioning autism, as well as gifted and twice-exceptional students.
Our Philosophy
At Schooled Classically Academy, we believe education should be challenging yet joyful, structured yet flexible, and deeply respectful of each child’s unique design. My goal is to create an online learning environment where students feel seen, respected, supported, and encouraged—a place where curiosity is cultivated, confidence is built, and a genuine love of learning can flourish.
Partnering With Families
Supporting families on their homeschooling journey is truly one of my greatest joys! I consider it an honor to walk alongside parents as we work together to educate, equip, and inspire their children. It is my sincere prayer that your student finds value, growth, and encouragement through these programs—and that together, we can work toward a bright, capable, and successful future.
I would love the opportunity to partner with your family!
Welcome to Schooled Classically Academy! 🍎
